Carl Concha, former 2 time Governor and current Cacique of Taos Pueblo and grandson of Couse’s model Ben Lujan;
Robert Mirabal, Grammy winning musician, author of two books, and a relative of Couse’s and Sharp’s model, Jerry Mirabal.
Open House and Studios:
The Couse/Sharp Historic Site is on 2.1 acres of land in the center of Taos. The Open House and Studios on October 17 will include the
Couse Home and studio; the Luna Chapel, Sharp’s first studio; Sharp’s second studio, now occupied by artist, Randall LaGro; the studios of painters Ed Sandoval, Ann Houston, and Gail Goodwin, and of photographer Desiree Manville; the Mission Gallery and the Tim O. Sutherland
Gallery which occupy the site of Sharp’s former home.
The Auction: Will include paintings by such well known artists
as Tony Abeyta, Kenn Backhaus, John Budicin, Arturo Chavez, Nicholas Coleman,
Walt Gonske, Ann Houston, Jerry Jordan, Randall LaGro, David Leffel, Kevin Macpherson,
Sherrie McGraw, John Modesitt, Ralph Oberg, Howard Post, Ron Rencher, Ray Roberts,
Ed Sandoval and Matt Smith. The paintings can be previewed on-line at www.cousefoundation.org.
The paintings will be available for absentee bidding and also through a live
auction conducted by Christies.
