Open House and Studios and Rare Exhibition:

The Couse-Sharp Historic Site is on 2.1 acres of land in the center of Taos. The Site’s Open House and Studios on September 24 will include the Couse home, studio and garden; Sharp’s first studio (the Luna Chapel); Sharp’s second studio, now occupied by artist Randall LaGro; the studios of painters Ed Sandoval, Ann Huston, and Gail Goodwin, and of photographer Desiree Manville; the Mission Gallery and the Joe Justad Gallery which occupy the site of Sharp’s former home.

Don’t miss the rare exhibition of the historic Couse/Santa Fe Railway images, 1914 - 1938. The exhibition will include the Couse calendars and the costumes, artifacts and sketches used in the painting of Grinding Corn.

Entertainment, Presentation, and Art Auction:

Pre-Dinner Musical Interlude by Heather Antonissen’s ensemble, presentation about the famed BNSF Western Art Collection by Sally King, its Curator, and auction by Steven Zick of Christie’s of 20 new works created to benefit The Couse-Sharp Historic Site. Paintings by such nationally known artists as: Bill Acheff, Kenn Backhaus, Arturo Chavez, Nicolas Coleman, Glenn Dean, Josh Elliott, Logan Hagage, Randall LaGro, David Leffel, Kevin Macpherson, Sherrie McGraw, Ed Mell, Ralph Oberg, Howard Post, Ron Rencher, Ray Roberts, Ed Sandoval, Bill Schenck, Matt Smith, and Skip Whitcomb. The paintings will be previewable online at www.cousefoundation.org. The paintings will be available for absentee bidding and through a live auction.
